Clinical and Economic Burden of Disease

  • Problem Statement:

Clinical and Economic Burden of Disease

Proposed Solution:
After a brainstorming session with the client, the solution was to develop a disease burden study. In these studies the clinical and economic impacts (Epidemiology, DALY, direct and indirect costs, including loss of patient work productivity as a result of disease and treatment) were demonstrated as Brazilian real-life data.

Outcome:
Study of disease burden can help to understand the impact of various diseases such as cancer on the Brazilian population. As there are many areas with little data, the impact of the disease on society is not appropriate in many circumstances. In this case, the disease that presents a self-cost of the health system can create a more favorable view for payers to invest in treatment. MAPESolutions' approach allows for a solid dataset for the burden of cancer in society, allowing for a greater appreciation of the benefits of new technologies.
